Pediatric Pulmonology includes the diagnosis, treatment and management of lung and breathing problems in children including:

  • Asthma
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Chronic lung disease in premature infants
  • Sleep disorders and sleep apnea
  • Chronic cough
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Noisy breathing (stridor)
  • Evaluation of sports-related breathing issues/endurance
  • Recurring pneumonia
  • Recurrent bronchitis and sinus infections
  • Chronic airways clearance problems
  • Breathing affected by anatomical or neurological diseases
  • Evaluation of the effects of scoliosis or pectus deformities on breathing
  • Vocal cord dysfunction and anxiety-related breathing issues 
  • Obesity as it relates to breathing
  • Chronic respiratory failure including need for tracheostomy or portable mechanical ventilation
  • Laryngomalacia and lower airway anomalies

For children with lung and breathing problems we also perform pulmonary function testing, complete lung volumes, impulse oscillometry, exhaled nitric oxide, exercise stress testing for the evaluation of bronchospasm, nasal laryngoscopy, flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy, and bronchoalveolar lavage if needed.
